Sewickley Cemetery on a Gloomy Winter Evening
I consider Sewickley Cemetery to be kind of a hidden gem. It’s perched up on a hilltop overlooking the quaint village of Sewickley. The trees that surround the cemetery’s edges make it barely visible from afar during the warmer, leafy months. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the village below, Sewickley Cemetery’s 80 plus acres make for a truly peaceful place of rest. On this blustery gray day in early March, I enjoyed an evening walk, taking my time to explore the grounds a bit more than I had previously. I spent most of my time wandering around the older section of the cemetery, with many graves dating back to the late 1800s. Vultures circled above, the trees creaked and moaned around me, and not a living soul crossed my path. I’ll be honest, it was a little bit of an eerie experience! I loved every second. Looking forward to visiting Sewickley Cemetery again as spring comes on.
